AND WHEREAS MOTORCYCLES ARE COMMON IN ECONOMICAL MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, THAT REDUCES FUEL CONSUMPTION AND ROADWAY AND CONTRIBUTES IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY TO THE RELIEF OF TRAFFIC AND PARKING CONGESTION.
AND WHEREAS THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION AND MOTORCYCLE SAFETY FOUNDATION HAVE NAMED MAY AS MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH.

I MYSELF AM A RIDER AND I KNOW FIRSTHAND THE VULNERABILITY OF BEING ON A MOTORCYCLE AND A NEED FOR OTHER DRIVERS TO BE AWARE OF HER PRESENCE.
UM, ALSO SOMEONE WHOSE ENTIRE FAMILY RIDES, INCLUDING MY YOUNG SON.
UM, I HAVE GREAT CONCERN AND FOR THE WELLNESS OF MY LOVED ONES AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER RIDERS ON THE ROAD THAT WE SHARE THE BEAUTIFUL TEXAS ROADS WITH.
LASTLY, AS A REALTOR, I SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS ON THE ROADS OF TEXAS DAY NIGHT ALL OVER CENTRAL TEXAS.
AND I WITNESSED FIRSTHAND THE MULTITUDE OF CHALLENGES FACED BY RIDERS RANGING, RANGING FROM POOR ROAD CONDITIONS TO JUST AWFUL DRIVING.
IN 2022, WE HAVE HAD 2022 ACCIDENTS WITH INCAPACITATING INJURIES AND WE HAVE HAD 9,645 RIDERS OR PASSENGERS INJURED OR KILLED ON TEXAS ROADS.
ALL OF US TODAY HAVE LOST TOO MANY FELLOW RIDER IN SITUATIONS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.
THIS IS NOT ONLY THE RIDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES THAT SUFFER, BUT ALSO THE DRIVERS AT FAULT THAT EXPERIENCE LIFE-CHANGING TRAUMA SUCH AS TRAGIC AND, AND UNAVOIDABLE EVENTS THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE.
MOTORCYCLES ARE SMALL, THEY ARE HARD TO SEE.
THEY OFFER US NO PROTECTION AT ALL.
UM, MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS CAN HAVE DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES, AND IT IS CRUCIAL TO BE VERY VIGILANT AND RESPECTFUL TOWARD RIDERS.
WE JUST YESTERDAY, ONE OF OUR MEMBERS ENCOUNTERED A HIT AND RUN WHERE THEY HAD TO CHASE DOWN THE PERSON THAT COMMITTED THE HIT AND RUN AND CALLED THE POLICE.
UM, THESE EVENTS HAPPEN ENTIRELY TOO OFTEN.
UH, BY FOSTERING A CULTURE OF MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS, WE CAN WORK TOWARDS PREVENTING ACCIDENTS, INJURIES, AND FATALITIES, ULTIMATELY CREATING A MORE HARMONIOUS AND SECURE ROAD NETWORK FOR ALL THE ROAD USERS.

CAN YOU HAVE AN EXAMPLE WHERE THE CITY ACTUALLY HAS SUBSIDY IN IT WITH MANY APARTMENTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION VERSUS GETTING THOSE JOBS THERE AND THE ACTIVITIES AND THE OTHER THINGS THAT WE KNOW, THERE'S PIN UP DEMAND FOR, IF YOU LOOK AT OUR LEAKAGE REPORTS ON COMMERCIAL, THERE IS PENT UP DEMAND.
NOW WE ALSO KNOW FROM THE DISCUSSION WE'VE HAD, THERE'S BEEN SOME CONTRADICTIONS TOO.
WE KNOW THAT THE OFFICE PIECE DOWNTOWN AUSTIN, YOU'VE GOT SUBLEASES NOW I'M SURE THE DOMAIN SAME THING.
